So over the long weekend I had the pleasure of hitting up the Rockspot for an ABS comp. I really gotta give the setters and comp runners some serious props. The comp ran smoother then any other I have attended this season thus far, this may be because of the lack of finals, but nonetheless it was refreshing.
When I showed up I skimmed the problems as is my custom, and it struck me that they were on the easy side. This puzzled me. As competitors rolled in, the reason was becoming clear to me, the comp was mostly filled with youths, youngsters, chillins. As the comp progressed I was able to pocket some pretty high ranking climbs in the mid to low forties.
I wasn't able to stay for awards (shame on me) but according to my coach, Steve Buck, I pulled through with around 19000 points, the climber below me in A (ages 15-16) had only 5000 points, this is a once in a season situation and I treasured it.
Thanks to all that came out to the comp and see you next Saturday at the BRG
